Questions people ask
Why is Own It a one-time price?
Hosting a site costs very little, so there is no monthly fee for it. You pay once and it is yours.
Can I switch from Starter to Own It later?
Yes. Press “Own your site” on your site's page. Your site stays live the whole time, and the monthly stops the moment you do.
Do I need to buy a domain?
For Starter, no — you get a free web address. For Own It and Custom you can use your own (usually $10–20 a year from any domain seller). Sitework shows you the two settings to put in at your domain seller, and JTS switches it on.
What if I stop paying for Starter?
Your site is paused. Pay again within 30 days and it comes straight back, exactly as it was.
What is the $149 a month for Custom?
Changes (up to 1 hour a month), support, and keeping your site working. More work than that is $75 an hour.
Do I need to know anything about websites?
No. It asks plain questions and does the rest.
Can I change it after it is live?
Yes, yourself, whenever you like. Changes wait in a draft until you press Put changes live, so nothing half-typed ever shows. On Own It, a new page or a new layout goes past JTS first.
Will it put me at the top of Google?
Nobody can promise that, and anybody who does is selling something. What Sitework does is build the page the way Google reads a local business — your hours, phone and address included — and keep it quick on a phone, which is what Google checks first.
Can customers book or pay on it?
On Starter and Own It they can ask for a booking or a quote, and it comes straight to you to confirm — nobody can double-book you. Real online booking and payments are what Custom is for.
What about email?
Messages from your site go to the email address you give. Sitework does not host email accounts.
Who owns it?
Your words and photos are yours. Ask and they are sent to you.
Can I have something that is not on the list?
Ask for it. On the “What's on it” page there is a place to ask for a part of your own. It is a request, not a promise: JTS looks at every one and may add it to your site. Something bigger is what Custom is for.
Will my site be shown anywhere else?
Only if you choose. Under Extras you can have it listed among the websites made with Sitework on jtsapps.com — your business name, what you do, your town and a link to your site. Untick it and it comes off straight away.
What it is not
- An online shop, on Starter or Own It. It does not take payments.
- A booking calendar. Bookings are requests you confirm.
- A blog, or a design-it-yourself canvas.
- Email hosting.
